Getting Pregnant Spontaneously After Fertility Treatments
I found an interesting article while reading the BBC news. This particular article is a number of years old, however it's still an interesting story. Apparently, a woman underwent IVF and only wanted two embryos transferred. As it turned out, three were transferred and she had triplets. She and her husband subsequently sued the clinic because of the financial hardship this put on the couple. Who would have ever predicted this one? I'm sure those of us who struggle with infertilty have a hard time relating to this, but it does raise some questions about all of the things that can go wrong with assisted reproduction.
Another reason I wanted to post this article is because the woman in the story, after having triplets with IVF (and after receiving a financial settlement from the clinic for transferring three embryos) became pregnant naturally with a fourth child! It just goes to show you, the natural route may deserve a chance - just think of all of the stress and turmoil this couple could have avoided.
