Trying To Get Pregnant? Antibacterial Soap May Be A Problem
It seems Americans have gone a little too far with the whole "cleanliness thing".My site: www.getpregnantover40.com has more articles on environmental threats to fertility
I've never been much of a "germaphobe" and neither were my parents. Funny thing is I hardly ever got sick as a child other than the occasional cold (and I never had allergies). Maybe our immune systems got the workout they needed by allowing our bodies at least some exposure to germs. Additionally, the whole "antibacterial" soap craze may not only kill germs, but these soaps my be affecting your hormonal balance.
Having a properly functioning thyroid gland is important for fertility - so you may want to switch back to the good old fashioned soap your mom used.
Here's an article that explains more:
"UVic molecular biologist Caren Helbing found while triclosan -- common in soaps, clothing, toys and other items having antibacterial properties -- isn't lethal in small quantities, it can potentially affect the human thyroid gland. The thyroid plays a role in development, body temperature and metabolism.
"For most things, regular soap is just fi ne. In terms of children's products, they shouldn't have triclosan in them at all," Helbing said in an interview."
